Description LOMOTIL 2MG TABLET Indications / Uses Adjunct in the symptomatic management of acute & chronic diarrhea & management of colostomies or ileostomies to reduce vol of discharge. Dosage / Direction for Use Acute diarrhea Adult Initially 2 tab w/ subsequent dose of 1 tab after each fluid evacuation. Children >12 yr Initially 1 tab w/ subsequent dose of 1 tab after each fluid evacuation. Chronic diarrhea Adult Initially 2 tab/day. Children >12 yr 1 tab/day. Adjust dose until 1 or 2 solid evacuation/day occur. Maintenance dose: Usually 1-6 tab/day. Max: 6 tab/day. Administration May be taken with or without food. Contraindications Patients w/ intestinal obstruction, abdominal distention, constipation or intestinal atoria, acute ulcerative colitis, pseudomembranous colitis associated w/ broad-spectrum antibiotics. Primary treatment of acute dysentery characterized by bloody stools & increased body temp. Children <12 yr. Special Precautions Hepatic failure, prostate hyperplasia, electrolyte depletion. Pregnancy & lactation. Children. This product requires no prescription.
